Institute of Chemistry Ceylon Christmas party, 2008

The Annual Christmas party of Institute of Chemistry Ceylon for the year 2008, organized by the Social Affairs Committee with assistance from level 1A students and the students association of CCS will be held in a whimsical manner, with a great finesse on 20th December 2008 (Saturday) from 5pm onwards at the ‘Hotel Janaki, 43, Fife Road’, Havelock Town, Colombo 05.

Dr Sudath Kumarasinghe Oration & Launch of the Dr Sudath Kumarasinghe Commemoration Fund

It is with great affection and gratitude that we recall memories of Dr. Sudath Kumarasinghe who left us prematurely in 1998 at the age of 53 years. Amongst many academics who taught Chemistry, Dr. Sudath Kumarasinghe had a unique disposition and personality. His guidance as a true teacher was very much beyond the aspect of merely teaching Chemistry. His determination was to give the best so that any student can face challenges he may have to face in life. It is proposed to formally launch the Scholarship / award at a commemorative oration to be delivered at Adamantane House by Dr Kumarasinghe’s batch-mate and close colleague, Professor D T B Tennekoone (presently at the University of Brunei and formerly University of Peradeniya) on 1st January 2009. The title of the Oration would be “GREEN CHEMISTRY: Back to Earth”. In order to enable this to happen, you are kindly invited as a friend / collegue / student / well wisher or any other capacity to forward to us your financial contribution towards the launch of the fund as soon as possible but hopefully not later than 15 th December 2008.
